Barcelona to Cover Rashford’s Full Wages in Loan Deal from Manchester United

Marcus Rashford’s move to Barcelona is gathering pace, with fresh details emerging about the financial terms of the deal. According to Transfer News Live via their X handle, the Spanish giants are prepared to shoulder the entirety of the England forward’s £325,000-a-week salary during his loan spell from Manchester United.

Softfootball understands that the agreement, believed to be in principle, would see Rashford spend the upcoming season at Camp Nou, with an option for Barcelona to make the move permanent next summer.

Rashford, who turned 27 recently, has been training separately from the main United squad at Carrington throughout pre-season. He has been in the company of other unsettled players, including Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho.

Earlier signals of Rashford’s potential exit emerged when United handed his iconic No. 10 shirt to new Brazilian signing Matheus Cunha. This decision sparked widespread speculation, now seemingly confirmed by the ongoing negotiations with Barcelona.

Rashford’s most recent football action came during a half-season loan at Aston Villa, where he managed four goals and six assists in 17 appearances. Despite flashes of his quality, the attacker found himself out of favour under new United boss Ruben Amorim, who replaced Erik ten Hag at the end of last season.

Barcelona, under Hansi Flick, are actively rebuilding and have prioritised a new left-sided attacker for the 2025/26 campaign. Rashford fits that profile perfectly. SoftFootball reported that the Catalan club had previously pursued Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, but the Spain international opted to sign a lengthy new deal with his boyhood club.

In this transfer window, the La Liga side has already welcomed Swedish teenage sensation Roony Bardghji and goalkeeper Joan Garcia. Rashford could be the next big addition if all terms are finalised soon.

The Manchester-born winger has made 426 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 138 goals and registering 77 assists. He has won the FA Cup and EFL Cup twice each and lifted the Europa League in 2017.

Rashford recently hinted at a desire to play alongside Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal. Speaking to the Daily Mail last month, he remarked:

“Yeah, for sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best. Hopefully. We’ll see.”

His current contract at Old Trafford is set to run until 2028, but with his future uncertain and Barcelona’s offer on the table, Rashford could be set for a new chapter in Spain.
