Barcelona defeated Sevilla 5:2 at home in the La Liga round 28 match. At this stage, Real Madrid’s chances of recovering the title from Barcelona are beginning to look increasingly difficult. In recent weeks, Barcelona have entered an exceptional run of form.

Softfootball recalls that after Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid 3:0 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final, Raphinha stated that if Barcelona continued to play in that manner, the team would enjoy a strong finish to the season.
Sevilla, however, no longer appear to be the same competitive side they once were, as their recent performances suggest a team struggling to maintain its previous standards. During the match, Raphinha scored a hat-trick, although the first penalty awarded in favour of Barcelona appeared to be questionable.

It was an impressive performance from Barcelona overall. Raphinha’s hat-trick led the way, while Dani Olmo also scored with a composed side-footed finish.
Barcelona now sit at the top of La Liga, four points ahead of Real Madrid. Madrid’s best chance of closing the gap may come in the El Clásico scheduled for 10 May 2026, although Barcelona’s current form suggests they remain strong favourites in the title race.
