Pablo Torre’s time at Barcelona looks set to end soon, with La Liga side Mallorca currently in advanced discussions to secure the 22-year-old midfielder’s services.
While the original talks were based on a loan deal, reports now indicate that a permanent transfer is more likely, with Barcelona considering a buy-back clause as part of the package.
Torre made just 14 appearances under Hansi Flick in the 2024–25 season, despite having joined Barcelona with high expectations back in 2022 from Racing Santander.

His lack of consistent game time has pushed the young Spaniard to seek a move elsewhere, preferably within Spain, despite receiving interest from clubs outside the country.
Frustrated by limited opportunities, Torre publicly expressed disappointment over Flick’s management. “I think I could’ve played more minutes,” he told Sport. “He wasn’t fair with me, and I told him that directly. I respect his decisions, even if I don’t understand them.” Torre’s honesty has shed light on the tensions behind the scenes at Camp Nou.
Despite his minimal involvement, Barcelona still rate Torre highly and believe in his potential to develop into one of Spain’s finest midfielders. However, with stars like Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Casado, and Gavi firmly ahead of him in the pecking order, the club acknowledges that Torre needs regular playing time to grow.
During the 2024–25 season, Torre played only 19 minutes in the Champions League and appeared in just 10 of Barcelona’s 38 La Liga matches during their title-winning campaign. He managed a total of 27 appearances for the club across all competitions since arriving, contributing five goals and four assists.
Barcelona now seem ready to let Torre leave in search of regular football, with Mallorca keen to add his creativity to their midfield. A move appears to suit all parties, offering Torre the playing time he craves and giving Barcelona a chance to monitor his development with an option to bring him back in the future.
