FC Barcelona have confirmed that two historic La Liga rivalries will return next season following the promotion of Deportivo La Coruña and Racing Santander to Spain’s top flight, Softfootball reports.
The Catalan club shared the update through their official x handle, with the 2026/27 campaign now set to feature the return of two traditional Spanish football fixtures.
Their statement:
Barça set to face two traditional LaLiga teams as Deportivo and Racing return to top flight

The announcement comes as Barcelona manager Hansi Flick continues to push for a stronger mentality within the squad ahead of next season, while Gavi has also urged new signings to fully commit to the club’s collective vision.
Deportivo secured promotion after defeating Real Valladolid 2–0 in the penultimate round of Segunda División matches, ending an eight-year absence from La Liga following their relegation in the 2017/18 season.
Barcelona’s last league meeting against Deportivo came in April 2018 at the Riazor, where the Blaugrana claimed a 4–2 victory during a title-winning campaign under Ernesto Valverde. Across 92 La Liga meetings, Barça have recorded 53 wins against Deportivo.

Meanwhile, Racing Santander already faced Barcelona earlier this season in the Copa del Rey round of 16, with Barça winning 2–0 thanks to goals from Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal.
