Softfootball understands that Barcelona has confirmed that midfielder Pedri suffered a right hamstring injury during Barcelona’s 4-2 victory against Slavia Prague last night, adding yet another complication to an already demanding season.
The club announced today via their official X account that tests carried out in the morning revealed the injury will likely keep the 23-year-old out for around a month.

They posted:
INJURY UPDATE Tests conducted this morning have confirmed that first team player Pedro González Pedri has a right hamstring injury, which he picked up during the game against Slavia Prague yesterday. The recovery time is expected to be one month.
A month-long absence means Pedri is expected to miss up to seven matches across La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.
Sadly, this injury fits into a pattern that’s becoming hard to ignore. Earlier in the 2025/26 season, Pedri spent more than a month sidelined with a left hamstring tear back in October. Since breaking into Barcelona’s first team, Pedri has missed 44 La Liga matches between 2021 and 2024 due to various injuries.

That number keeps coming up, and it worries people around the club. He remains central to Flick’s system, but the body hasn’t always followed the plan. This season, Pedri has still managed 24 appearances, with 2 goals and 7 assists.
Barcelona will now lean on other solutions. Dani Olmo stepped in against Slavia Prague and immediately changed the tempo, while Fermín López grabbed two goals and continues to show personality, confidence, and hunger.

With Gavi and Andreas Christensen out injured and Ferran Torres out for ten days due to injury, the squad depth is being tested properly now.
Pedri’s latest injury feels like another chapter in an ongoing struggle. Barcelona will have to adapt without him, as they always do, leaning on depth and adapting where needed, but there’s no hiding how much they miss him when he’s not there.
For Pedri, the focus now is simple: recover properly, reset, and come back without rushing the process. If Barcelona is to get the best version of him long-term, patience may matter more than points over the next few weeks.
