Softfootball gathered, In that first encounter, Barcelona were punished early and ruthlessly. The return leg told a completely different story. Atlético delivered an abysmal performance, struggling with control, possession, and composure. Even teams battling at the bottom of the Premier League would be disappointed to display such a lack of structure and confidence.

Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal impressed with a standout performance, while Pedri’s presence in midfield made a clear difference. His involvement reinforced the belief that had he featured in the first leg, the 4-0 defeat might never have happened.

Barcelona pushed relentlessly, perhaps too anxiously at times. In their desperation to score early, they occasionally rushed passes instead of calmly circulating the ball. Atlético, offering little resistance, were fortunate that the aggregate margin from the first leg ultimately protected them.

In cup competitions, however, performance is secondary to progression. Atlético Madrid are the side heading to the final, and that is what matters most. For Barcelona, despite the valiant effort, elimination is the reality.
