Manchester City will be without mercurial Egyptian player Omar Marmoush when they face United in the derby this weekend, Softfootball reports.
The epic encounter which would take place at the Etihad on Sunday will have the former Frankfurt forward absent but the Cityzens would hope he is not out for too long after registering him in their Champions League squad.

Manchester City announced the news via it’s official club media, revealing that the Egyptian picked up the injury while representing his country in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The statement read:
Manchester City FC can confirm that Omar Marmoush has sustained a knee injury whilst on international duty with Egypt.
The City striker suffered the injury in the early stages of Egypt’s World Cup qualifying match with Burkina Faso on Tuesday evening.
Initial results on a scan performed in Egypt indicate he will not be available for the Manchester derby on Sunday, and he will now return to Manchester for more assessment and to begin his rehabilitation.
Everyone at City wishes Omar a speedy recovery.
Marmoush has scored eight goals in 28 appearances for Manchester City since he joined from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59million in 2024 January.
Ahead of the Manchester derby, Guardiola could be short of options in attack, following injuries to summer signing Rayan Cherki and England international midfielder Phil Foden who missed the defeat by Brighton before the international break.
Also, Abdukodir Khusanov missed Uzbekistan’s internationals with a calf injury and he is likely to be out for two weeks. Three Lions defender, John Stones trained with Thomas Tuchel ‘s men but pulled out on Friday after struggling to overcome a minor muscle injury.
Rico Lewis and Nico O’Reilly both withdrew from England Under-21 duty, while Rayan Ait-Nouri didn’t leave the Etihad and missed Algeria’s World Cup qualifiers.
