Atalanta have made the first official approach to bring Robin Gosens back to Bergamo, tabling an initial €12 million proposal to Fiorentina. However, the bid was swiftly turned down, with La Viola making it clear they value the defender far higher and see him as an integral part of their squad heading into the new season.
The German international previously enjoyed a highly successful spell with Atalanta between 2017 and 2022, establishing himself as one of the most dynamic wing-backs in Europe under Gian Piero Gasperini. His attacking flair and tireless work rate were crucial to Atalanta’s memorable Champions League runs.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, via his verified X handle, confirmed that Fiorentina rejected Atalanta’s €12m approach for Gosens. He stated:
“Understand Atalanta made contact for Robin Gosens as priority target at left back.
“€12m initial proposal turned down by Fiorentina as they consider Gosens as a key player.”
The 30-year-old joined from Union Berlin earlier this year and has quickly become a consistent performer in Vincenzo Italiano’s side. The club is particularly reluctant to lose him as they prepare for another push in Serie A and Europe, where his versatility and leadership are highly valued.
For Atalanta, reuniting with Gosens is seen as a natural fit. Gasperini’s system heavily relies on attacking wing-backs, and Gosens thrived in that role during his prime years in Bergamo. His ability to balance defensive duties with offensive surges makes him a tailor-made solution to strengthen their left flank.
Atalanta are expected to return with an improved bid, though negotiations will not be easy. Fiorentina’s firm stance means the Bergamo club may need to double their initial offer if they are serious about striking a deal.
Meanwhile, Atalanta are closing in on signing Rodrigo Muniz from Fulham as talks between both clubs is progressing. Softfootball understands that they are confident of finalising an agreement for the Brazilian striker, who has made it clear his interest in making the switch to Italy.
With the transfer window still open, this potential reunion could become one of Serie A’s most intriguing storylines of the summer.
