Liverpool Captain Virgil van Dijk claims that questions directed at Reds manager, Arne Slot about sacked Real Madrid Coach, Xabi Alonso was very disrespectful, Softfootball reports.
Liverpool beat Marseille 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League Match-Day 7 in France and some overzealous reporters questioned Slot about the likelihood of Alonso replacing him at Anfield.

In an interview shared via Fabrizio Romano’s official X handle, Van Dijk says he understands the Reds haven’t been great this season but asking Arne Slot such questions is uncalled for. He said:
Asking Arne Slot about Xabi Alonso was disrespectful. Criticism is justified if you look at what we are doing in the season, especially based on last season. It’s been a difficult part of the season for us but he has handled it well.
In their last premier league match, Liverpool drew 1-1 against Burnley and that didn’t go down with a lot of fans considering that they played at Anfield and could not defeat a side that is battling relegation.

The premier league defending champions have been struggling for form this season and they were not helped by the rift between Starman, Mohamed Salah and the manager, Arne Slot. But after Salah’s return from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) he went straight into the starting line-up against Marseille and the fans will hope it continues for the rest of the season.
Liverpool are currently fourth on the premier league table with 36 points after 22 matches this season and will battle Bournemouth on Saturday in the Match-Day 23.
