Ahead of the London derby against Fulham this weekend, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has revealed that he is happy with the form of Viktor Gyökeres, Softfootball reports.

The 28-year-old has been on a six-game goal drought and the last time he found the back of the net was on September 13, when Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 3-0.

Football expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle shared Arsenal’s pre-match interview where he talked about Gyökeres’ scoring form. He said:

I’m very pleased with what he’s given to the team.

I told him before the first meeting: the nine that I want is a nine that when he doesn’t score for six or eight games, he can handle that. If not, you have to go somewhere else.

Gyökeres has endured a poor goalscoring season in his premier league debut, scoring just three times in 14 matches for club and country and hasn’t scored in eight consecutive matches.

Areteta will hope the Sweden international regains his scoring touch as Arsenal look to maintain their position on top of the premier league and hopefully win the competition for the first time since 2004.

Gyökeres joined Arsenal in the summer after scoring a whopping 97 goals in 102 appearances for Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
