Arsenal urged to ditch Gyokeres and Osimhen chase to sign £150m Isak

Arsenal are being advised to turn their attention away from Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen in their search for a new striker, with former club captain William Gallas calling for a record-breaking move for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The Gunners are looking to finally solve their striking dilemma this summer, with Mikel Arteta aiming to secure a world-class forward capable of leading a title charge. While Kai Havertz has filled the role in recent seasons, doubts linger over his effectiveness as a long-term solution.

Sporting’s Gyokeres has reportedly shown interest in an Arsenal switch despite rebuffing Manchester United. However, negotiations have hit a snag over fees and personal terms, while a fallback option in Benjamin Sesko also presents financial complications with RB Leipzig demanding a premium.

Osimhen has also been floated as a target, but Gallas believes the Nigerian’s style could spark friction with Arteta’s tactical approach. Speaking to Prime Casino, the former Arsenal defender said Osimhen “could clash” with the Spanish manager, despite his undeniable talent.

Gallas instead backed Isak as the ideal fit, describing the Sweden international as the complete package and urging Arsenal to pay whatever it takes. “Isak is perfect for Arsenal,” he said. “They should go all out. He guarantees 20 goals a season and fits seamlessly into Arteta’s system.”

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a stellar rise at Newcastle, becoming one of the Premier League’s most efficient forwards. However, with the Magpies slapping a £150m valuation on him, Arsenal may hesitate despite Isak being considered Arteta’s “dream” option for the No.9 role.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are on the verge of completing their first major signing of the window with Martin Zubimendi set to arrive from Real Sociedad in a £55m move. Gallas praised the incoming midfielder, comparing him to Man City’s Rodri for his role as a defensive shield.

Arteta, speaking in April, hinted at a crucial summer ahead. “We want to increase the depth and quality of the squad to take the next step,” he said. Arsenal open their Premier League campaign away at Manchester United on August 17.

With striker options thinning and pre-season approaching, the Gunners now face a decisive moment: pursue a marquee name like Isak at great cost, or settle for more financially viable but less proven alternatives.
