Manchester City’s summer overhaul continues as they prepare for the upcoming Club World Cup. New additions Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, and Rayan Ait-Nouri have bolstered Pep Guardiola’s squad ahead of the tournament, with Cherki’s arrival from Lyon catching particular attention.

Signed for £36.1 million after a standout campaign in Ligue 1, Cherki also impressed in his recent debut outings for France. His preferred position on the right flank adds more competition in City’s attack, which could have consequences for established stars.

Among those potentially affected is Phil Foden, whose role in the team may be under review given the new additions. Despite his previous accolade as the Football Writers’ Player of the Year, his recent form has dipped, leading to questions about his place in Guardiola’s plans.

This uncertainty has sparked transfer speculation, with former striker Tony Cascarino suggesting Arsenal might be a potential destination. Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino pointed to Mikel Arteta’s past relationship with Foden during their time together at City as a possible link.

City are already looking to move Jack Grealish on, and though Foden’s departure seems less likely, Cascarino believes a switch could still happen. Arsenal, having previously signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City, may once again look to the Etihad for reinforcements.

Foden’s future now hangs in the balance as City continue to spend and reshape their squad, leaving the door open for a possible high-profile exit this summer.
