Arsenal target Rodrygo amid uncertainty at Real Madrid

Arsenal’s summer transfer strategy continues to take shape as they push to bring Real Madrid’s Rodrygo to the Premier League. The Gunners are confident they can offer the 24-year-old Brazilian a revitalising environment that suits his dynamic playing style, especially with a fluid left-wing role awaiting him in Mikel Arteta’s setup.

Rodrygo’s future at Madrid remains uncertain despite recent efforts to impress new head coach Xabi Alonso in training. Although he featured in the Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal, he was left on the bench during their 3-1 victory over Pachuca, sparking further speculation around his place in the squad.

While Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has not set a formal asking price, reports indicate the club would value Rodrygo at around €90m if the player formally requests to leave. So far, Rodrygo has not communicated any desire to move, and Arsenal are hesitant to make a move until that changes.

Arsenal’s urgency stems from a shrinking list of viable wide forward targets. Their interest in Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams ended after his decision to join Barcelona. Meanwhile, efforts to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo have stalled as Manchester United submitted a second bid. Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon remains another option but would require a substantial fee.

One alternative under consideration is Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. Despite his flashes of promise at Stamford Bridge, he has not locked down a consistent starting spot. With Chelsea nearing the signing of Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, competition in Madueke’s position will only intensify. Still, Arsenal are put off by Chelsea’s £50m valuation of the England international.

As Arsenal continue to seek reinforcements both out wide and up front, the clock is ticking. Their pursuit of Rodrygo remains alive, but much depends on whether the Brazilian is ready to end his time at the Bernabéu.
