Arsenal are in advanced discussions to extend the contracts of key players Declan Rice and Jurriën Timber as part of the club’s long-term squad planning. This was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his official X account.

Romano reported:

Arsenal are in negotiations to get new deal done for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. Next two on the shortlist since last year after Bukayo Saka. Rice, happy at the club and negotiating terms of new deal with Arsenal as @SamiMokbel_BBC reported. All parties optimistic.

The move comes shortly after the club secured a new deal for Bukayo Saka for the next five years. Softfootball understands that Arsenal is aiming at maintaining stability within their core group of players as they continue competing at the highest level. The club’s hierarchy view Rice and Timber as crucial components of manager Mikel Arteta’s project.

Rice joined Arsenal from West Ham United FC in 2023 for a club-record £105 million, and has quickly established himself as a central figure in midfield. His leadership and versatility have been vital to Arsenal’s performances, including a standout display in the club’s 3–2 victory over AFC Bournemouth, which earned praise from Arteta.

The England international recently addressed criticism of Arsenal’s playing style, emphasizing that results remain the priority. Rice noted that scrutiny comes naturally with playing for a top club and insisted the team remains focused on winning matches.

Negotiations with Jurriën Timber are also progressing positively.

The Dutch defender is regarded as a key part of Arsenal’s defensive structure as the club pushes for major honours during the 2025–26 season.
