Arsenal face Premier League rivals in race for £17.1m Agoume signing

Arsenal’s hunt for a Thomas Partey replacement has intensified with Sevilla’s Lucien Agoume emerging as a serious target. However, the Gunners now face competition from two Premier League rivals—Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United—for the French midfielder’s signature.

Partey is expected to depart as a free agent when his contract expires on June 30. Talks over a renewal have collapsed, with the Ghanaian reportedly demanding a pay rise on his current £200,000-per-week wage. Jorginho is also leaving, leaving Arsenal light in defensive midfield.

While the club is set to confirm the arrival of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Mikel Arteta reportedly sees Agoume as the perfect understudy to the Spaniard. The Sevilla star is valued at just £17.1 million—a fee well within reach for Arsenal, Spurs, and United alike.

Agoume joined Sevilla from Inter Milan for £3.4m after a loan spell and impressed with one goal and three assists across 37 matches. Despite having three years left on his deal, Sevilla are under financial pressure and open to selling key players this summer.

Tottenham and Manchester United are monitoring the 6ft 1in midfielder’s situation. Spurs could move for Agoume with doubts surrounding Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur, while United need reinforcements after Christian Eriksen’s contract expiry and continued uncertainty around Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo.

Despite the strong competition, Arsenal are still considered frontrunners in the race for Agoume. With Partey’s exit all but confirmed and Zubimendi arriving soon, Agoume could add valuable depth and potential to Arteta’s midfield rebuild.
