Arsenal have confirmed that William Saliba will be sidelined for an extended period after suffering a back injury while representing France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Softfootball gathered that the 25-year-old centre-back was forced off just 30 minutes into France’s semi-final against Spain in July after picking up the injury, raising immediate concerns over the severity of the setback.
Following extensive medical assessments, Arsenal have confirmed that surgery will not be required. Instead, Saliba will begin a carefully managed rehabilitation programme under the club’s medical staff. The decision to avoid surgery is viewed as positive news, although Saliba is still expected to miss a significant part of the upcoming campaign as he focuses on a full recovery.
