Arsenal confident of Myles LewisSkelly stay amid Real Madrid links

Arsenal are optimistic about keeping Myles Lewis-Skelly at the club despite strong interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are monitoring the young star, particularly after his standout display against them in last season’s Champions League quarter-final.

Lewis-Skelly, who made a rapid leap into the first team, ended the season as Mikel Arteta’s go-to option at left-back, overtaking Zinchenko, Tierney, and new signing Calafiori. The teenager’s form even earned him a full England debut in March, and he’s expected to be in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup plans.

Although the defender’s current contract is set to expire next summer, Arsenal have been in talks since January to extend his stay. Despite no deal being finalized yet, sources suggest the club is confident he’ll remain with his boyhood side.

Real Madrid have a recent track record of snapping up Premier League players on free transfers, with Antonio Rudiger and Trent Alexander-Arnold among them. However, insiders like Fabrizio Romano believe Lewis-Skelly is unlikely to join that trend.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also working to secure another promising academy product, Ethan Nwaneri. The young midfielder shone last season, filling in for Bukayo Saka during his injury layoff, and is currently impressing for England’s Under-21s.

New sporting director Andrea Berta is leading efforts to extend several contracts, having already locked down Gabriel Magalhaes to a new long-term deal. Gabriel expressed his delight at continuing his journey with Arsenal, emphasizing his deep connection with the club and supporters.

While Real Madrid continue to keep tabs on Lewis-Skelly and other talents like William Saliba and Ibrahima Konate, Arsenal remain focused on building a squad for the future — one rooted in Hale End graduates and long-term loyalty.
