Arne Slot reveals Liverpool has no plans to sign new players in January

Liverpool are not actively looking to sign new players in the ongoing January transfer window as manager Arne Slot is happy with the current squad except situations presents themselves, Softfootball understands.

The Dutchman led Liverpool to a comprehensive 3-0 win over Marseille in the UEFA Champions League Match-Day 7 and as a result the Reds moved into fourth in the 36-team table with an opportunity to qualify for the round of 16.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Liverpool are not looking to sign any player this month. He shared an interview where Slot said:

I expect there to be no movement. But if there’s an opportunity in the market and we think we can strengthen the squad this club will always try to do so. But at this moment in time, no.

Liverpool record signing, Alexander Isak is out due to injury and the Sweden international has been unlucky with injurys since he penned his 125 million pounds deal with the premier league champions.

The Reds had a spending spree last summer, bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz worth around £116 million with potential add-ons, France international, Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt for a fee that could rise to £79 million, Milos Kerkez for approximately £40 million.

Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, signed after his £29.5 million release clause was triggered, Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia and paid £29 million for his services, Giovanni Leoni, a centre-back, from Parma in an initial £26 million deal and Freddie Woodman, a goalkeeper, from Preston North End on a free transfer.

Liverpool will face Milos Kerkez’s former side, Bournemouth on Saturday in the premier league Match-Day 23.
