Arne Slot has delivered a positive update on the recovery of Florian Wirtz, suggesting the midfielder could return sooner than expected. This was revealed by Liverpool on their official X handle.

Arne Slot offered a positive update on the fitness of Florian Wirtz during this morning’s press conference.
Softfootball understands that the German playmaker, who joined Liverpool from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the summer of 2025, and was recently sidelined with a back injury, is making encouraging progress.

Wirtz was withdrawn as a precaution during Liverpool’s 5–2 victory over West Ham United on March 1, 2026. Since then, the 22-year-old has missed three matches, raising concerns about his availability ahead of the club’s fixtures against Wolves.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Slot revealed that Wirtz has already taken a step forward in his recovery. “He trained half and half yesterday with the team,” Slot explained highlighting that he made the next step in his rehab. Slot looks forward to Wirtz recovery progress today and if he could be available for tomorrow’s match.

Wirtz has been a key creative figure for Liverpool this season, contributing 12 goals and 15 assists in 28 appearances. His potential return would be a major boost as Liverpool look to maintain momentum in the league.
