Arne Slot defends Ibrahima Konaté after poor display in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Leeds

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has been forced to publicly defend Ibrahima Konaté following his poor performance against Leeds United on Saturday evening, Softfootball reports.

The Premier League Match-Day 15 played at Elland Road witnessed a thrilling six-goal showdown as Liverpool and Leeds played out a 3-3 draw to the delight of the home fans after witnessing their team hold the defending champions.

However, it was the Ibrahima Konaté’s unimpressive defensive performance that caught the interest as Slot was asked about the defender’s game during his interview shared via Fabrizio Romano’s official X handle. He said:

Unfortunately for him he does a lot of things well… but he has been a bit too much at the crime scene. Today it was a tackle that came from effort, he tried everything to block the cross.

In a recent interview, Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand claims that Konate’s contract situation has affected his form.Some would argue that the French man is not the worst player in the current squad but they’ve conceded loads of goals this campaign.

Real Madrid were longtime admirers of the France international but recently withdrew their pursuit of the defender citing that they would like to chase other targets as they look for younger replacements for Rudiger and David Alaba.

Liverpool are the defending champions and are currently in eighth in the premier league with 23 points after 15 matches.
