Arsenal’s impressive 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu has propelled them into the Champions League semi-finals, where they’ll face Paris Saint-Germain. The French side earned their spot after knocking out Aston Villa earlier in the week.

Following the win, Alexis Sanchez – currently playing for Serie A side Udinese – expressed his admiration for Arsenal. The 36-year-old, whose legacy at the Emirates remains a topic of debate after his 2018 move to Manchester United, publicly celebrated the Gunners’ triumph over the reigning European champions.

Despite the controversy surrounding his departure, Sanchez’s support for Arsenal resurfaced after this recent victory. In the past, he’s opened up about his regret over joining United, revealing that doubts began to surface after just his first training session with the team. He felt disconnected from the squad and questioned the club’s internal environment, but by then, the move was already finalized.

In 2023, Sanchez reportedly made a move to return to Arsenal following the end of his stint with Marseille. However, Mikel Arteta declined the offer, signaling that the club had moved in a different direction.

Arsenal’s resurgence on the European stage has reignited old connections, with Sanchez joining the chorus of support from former players as they chase Champions League glory.
