The deal comes with a significant pay increase. Saelemaekers’ salary will rise from about €1.2–1.5 million net per season to somewhere around €3–3.5 million net. That’s basically more than double his previous earnings. It’s a reward for his hard work and performances this season, and it clearly shows the club trusts him.

Softfootball understands that Saelemaekers has been solid this season for AC Milan, making 18 appearances. He’s scored two goals and got four assists, including scoring in AC Milan’s recent 2-1 victory against Napoli. Saelemaekers’ energy, work rate, and ability to cover multiple roles make him an important option for Allegri.

Saelemaekers first joined Milan from Anderlecht in January 2020 for €7.65 million. He’s played 159 games, scored 12 goals, and was part of the 2021–22 Scudetto-winning squad. Loan spells at Bologna in 2023–24 and Roma in 2024–25 made people wonder if he could ever settle, but his return this season has changed that narrative.

Now, back in Milan, he’s sharper, more focused, and clearly determined to make an impact. The club rewarded him with this long-term contract, showing they value his contribution.

This is a chance for Saelemaekers to keep growing at a club that believes in him. For Milan, it’s a bit of stability and reliability locked in for years, sometimes, patience really does pay off, even if it takes a while longer than expected.
