Akor Adams Double Rescues Sevilla in Chaotic 2-2 LaLiga Clash at Elche

Softfootball understands that Sevilla somehow found a way to stop the bleeding tonight, fighting back from two goals down to earn a tense 2-2 LaLiga draw away at Elche.

The result ends Sevilla’s three-game losing streak following their recent 1-0 defeat to Celta Vigo and a 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid, while Elche’s rough spell continues, with just two wins from their last 13 league outings.

Sevilla had the first sight of goal when Oso blazed over from range, but that warning barely registered. The hosts struck inside the opening quarter-hour.

Martim Neto slipped a clever ball into Aleix Febas, who found space just outside the area and guided a low shot inside the near post. Odysseas Vlachodimos was caught slightly out of position, and just like that, Elche were ahead.

Sevilla’s response was frantic, not always controlled. José Ángel Carmona somehow headed wide from only a few yards out, a miss that left away fans with hands on heads. Batista Mendy then rattled the crossbar with a thunderous effort from a distance.

Chances came at both ends before the break, with Vlachodimos making a stunning reflex save from Álvaro Rodríguez, while Iñaki Peña denied Djibril Sow, who really should’ve scored.

Any hope Sevilla had of resetting at halftime faded quickly. Ten minutes into the second half, poor defending from a corner allowed Marc Aguado to lay the ball off to Germán Valera, who calmly passed it into the bottom corner from 18 yards. At 2-0, Elche looked in full control, maybe even cruising.

But Sevilla didn’t fold. Oso smashed another effort against the woodwork from a free kick, Isaac Romero was denied one-on-one, and the pressure kept building. With 15 minutes left, substitute Akor Adams finally broke the drought, tapping in after Oso’s flicked effort struck the post.

Elche tried to slow the game, run down the clock, and do the ugly stuff. Still, football doesn’t always reward that. Deep into stoppage time, a handball decision changed everything. Adams stepped up, no hesitation, and blasted the penalty into the top corner.

Sevilla escape with a point. Elche are left staring at another missed chance, and that might sting for a while.
