The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026, concluded with significant financial rewards for participating nations, as CAF released the official prize money structure for the tournament.

Softfootball gathered, a total of 24 African national teams competed in the 35th edition of the biennial competition, which was staged across nine stadiums in six Moroccan cities. The tournament ended in dramatic fashion, with Senegal emerging champions after defeating host nation Morocco 1–0 in a chaotic final.

  • Third place in group stage: $700,000

Senegal’s triumph earned them the largest prize in AFCON history, underlining CAF’s continued effort to increase financial incentives and competitiveness across African football. Morocco, despite missing out on the title on home soil, walked away with $4 million, while Nigeria, who defeated Egypt to claim third place, earned $2.5 million.

The increased prize money reflects CAF’s growing commercial strength and aims to support football development across the continent, ensuring that strong performances at AFCON are rewarded both on and off the pitch.
