AC Milan director Igli Tare has moved to clarify reports surrounding Mike Maignan’s contract situation, as uncertainty continues to surround the future of the club’s first-choice goalkeeper. With Maignan’s current deal set to expire in June, speculation has intensified over both his demands and Milan’s next move.
Softfootball earlier reported that AC Milan and Maignan are actively working towards a solution before his contract runs out, with both parties keen to avoid a last-minute situation as the goalkeeper enters the final year of his deal.

According to Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Tare played down suggestions that the French international is asking for an €8m net salary, stressing that such figures have not come from the player or his camp. The Milan director also made it clear that the club values Maignan highly, both on and off the pitch. Romano posted:
AC Milan director Tare on Mike Maignan contract expiring in June: I’ve never heard €8m net request as salary from Mike. He’s a leader, a top guy, he’s happy at AC Milan and we’d be happy to keep him. We are in active talks, told DAZN.

Maignan’s importance to the Rossoneri has also been underlined by his performances this season. The AC Milan shot-stopper was recently named AIC Player of the Month for November, a recognition that further highlights his value to the team as contract discussions continue behind the scenes.
