The Premier League title race has taken on a new dimension in March 2026, and according to a recent tactical breakdown on The Overlap podcast via their official x handle, two summer signings are shaping the narrative: Viktor Gyökeres at Arsenal and Benjamin Šeško at Manchester United.
The overlap podcast posted;
“I did say I think he can score between 10 and 12. If he carries on now, I believe he could probably get more. Every single goal now is so important because Arsenal are in everything all the competitions.
Especially after those two goals he scored against Spurs, hopefully he can go on a run. People constantly talk about him as the guy who scores against the lower-end teams which he did in Portugal and is doing here but that’s exactly what Arsenal always needed.
We’ve shown we can score against the top six. What we need is someone who can break down defenses and finish chances like that and those finishes were exactly what they bought him for. Really good.
When I watched Šeško as well, there’s something about it it’s really clean, like boom, boom. But against a low block, when it’s all condensed around him, he can struggle. He just needs help. He needs someone closer to him.
He’s got 10 goals now. I said 10 to 12 but if he gets 15 or 16 and people are still talking, then it’s a hit.”

The panel highlighted Gyökeres as the final attacking piece Arsenal had been missing. Earlier in the season, Mikel Arteta’s side struggled against deep defensive blocks, often dominating possession without converting chances. Gyökeres has changed that dynamic.
His ability to attack the six-yard box, anticipate second balls, and produce “clean finishes” has given Arsenal a sharper edge in tight games. Already on 10 Premier League goals, the consensus was clear if he reaches 15 or 16 in his debut campaign, it will be viewed as a major success.

His recent brace against Tottenham was cited as proof he can deliver on the biggest stages, not just against lower-table opposition. Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær reinforced that view after Arsenal’s 4–0 win over Bournemouth, describing Gyökeres as a true “Fox in the Box” a striker profile built on instinct, positioning, and ruthless efficiency.
According to Solskjær, that specific quality is what now separates Arsenal from previous seasons and gives them a genuine edge in the title fight.
Meanwhile, across Manchester, Benjamin Šeško has sparked a surge of his own. Named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for February, Šeško exploded with five goals in four games, including decisive strikes against Manchester City and Liverpool.
On The Overlap, his finishing was described as “clean and boom” minimal touches, maximum impact. His blend of pace, power, and directness has revitalized United’s attack under Michael Carrick.
Softfootball has describes the situation as the
“battle of the summer strikers.”
Gyökeres offers tactical control and composure against structured defenses, while Šeško brings explosive momentum in transition-heavy matches. Both are projected to surpass 20 goals in all competitions this season.

With Arsenal preparing for a high-stakes London derby against Chelsea, attention now turns to whether Gyökeres can push beyond the 12-goal mark predicted by pundits and whether Šeško can maintain his blistering pace as the race tightens.
