Mikel Arteta could possibly clash with Pep Guardiola in all four major competitions this 2025/26 season. Softfootball carried out a deep insight after reporting the confirmed Champions League knockout stage draw and realised there is a real possibility that Arsenal and Manchester City could meet across every competition available.

Premier League

This is the root of the rivalry. Arsenal are currently locked in a tight Premier League title race with Manchester City. The first league meeting ended in a 1-1 draw, with the second leg yet to be scheduled. The outcome of that fixture could define the title race.

Carabao Cup

It has already been confirmed that Arsenal will face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. Arsenal defeated Chelsea 3-2 away and 1-0 at home to qualify for the final, setting up a blockbuster showdown.

FA Cup

Both teams are still active in the FA Cup. If they continue progressing, a meeting in the knockout rounds or even the final is highly possible. Given their quality and depth, a clash at the latter stages would not be surprising.

Champions League

This is the biggest stage. Softfootball previously analysed that Arsenal have a favourable route to the final, and even our A.I system predicted Arsenal to reach and win it. Although the A.I did not project Manchester City to make the final, their pedigree in Europe cannot be ignored. City could still navigate their difficult path and set up a Champions League final against Arsenal.

If all scenarios align, this season could deliver:

• Premier League title race: Man City vs Arsenal
• FA Cup Final: Man City vs Arsenal
• Carabao Cup Final: Man City vs Arsenal

Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta competing in four competitions in one season would be historic.
