Bayern Munich return to Champions League action on Tuesday night knowing the margins at the top of the table remain tight, with Vincent Kompany’s side still firmly in the hunt despite sitting just behind Arsenal. The Bavarians welcome Union Saint-Gilloise with alot of confidence, boosted by the return of Jamal Musiala, as they look to maintain momentum in a competition where consistency has been key, Softfootball reports.

Form at the Allianz Arena has also been a major positive for Bayern in recent weeks. The German giants have won their last nine games out of ten games at home in all competitions, a run that includes a ruthless 8–1 demolition of Wolfsburg, underlining the attacking firepower Kompany’s side can unleash in front of their own supporters.

With Musiala now back available after his spell on the sidelines, Kompany has options once again as Bayern continue to juggle a packed January schedule. The Belgian coach has leaned heavily on the collective strength of his squad in recent weeks, and he insists that flexibility and mentality, rather than individual reliance, will be decisive as the season enters a crucial phase.

In statements shared via the club’s official X handle, Kompany addressed Musiala’s return and its impact on the team dynamic. Kompany said:

Things may also change when he returns. It may always change when other players come in.Each of our players is compatible with our system. It does not always have to be the same. Jamal Musiala scored over 20 goals last season but he’s been out for a long time. Ultimately, I do not care how or who scores the goals for us.

The Bayern boss also reserved praise for Tuesday’s opponents, warning his players not to take the Belgian side lightly.he noted:

They’re doing a super job and have very talented players. They’re a dangerous side, I respect what they’re doing.

Reflecting on recent performances, Kompany touched on Bayern’s tendency to concede first in matches, while highlighting the resilience his team has shown in responding. He explained:

All three games were different but we always conceded first. We have so many games in January, They’ve all been close at first, but it’s a great quality of ours that we always manage to make the difference. We had periods where we were dominant for 90 minutes, which hasn’t always been the case recently. But of course, our opponents want to make it difficult for us. Nevertheless, we did a lot of things right. The first half in Leipzig wasn’t good. We have to get through this phase now, then we’ll get our consistency back. But we’re also drawing strength from our recent successes.

Bayern Munich currently sit second in the Champions League standings with 15 points, three behind leaders Arsenal. Their only defeat of the entire season so far came against the Gunners, who beat the Bavarians 3–1 at home earlier in the competition.
