AS Roma director Ricky Massara has confirmed that Manchester United has blocked every attempt by the club to sign striker, Joshua Zirkzee this January, Softfootrball reports.

The Dutch international have found playing time scarce at Old Trafford this season and was only a substitute last week when Manchester United drew 2-2 against Burnley at the Turf Moor.

During an interview shared by football expert Fabrizio Romano via his official X handle, Massara revealed that Manchester United have made it impossible to sign the player. He revealed:

Manchester United have CLOSED all doors now with the managerial change. It looks highly unlikely to sign Zirkzee now.

Ruben Amorim left Manchester United on Monday following a series of poor results and replaced him with club legend, Darren Fletcher as interim Coach. After making a debut with a 2-2 draw against Burnley, he is scheduled to also lead the side against Brighton in the third round of the FA Cup.

Fletcher is bent on giving every player a fresh start and that includes Zirkzee which means that the player might not leave the club in January. The former Bologna forward was initially open to a return to the Serie A with even Juventus after his services alongside AS Roma.

Manchester United will appoint a caretaker manager as early as next week and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick are frontrunners for the job. Solskjaer has managed the club before and had a remarkably decent run while Carrick Coached Middlesborough in the Championship before he was sacked recently.
