Arsenal fans thank Chelsea for selling Kepa to them after reaching Carabao Cup semi-final

Arsenal fans are ecstatic after their team secured a semi-final place in the Carabao Cup thanks to the heroics of former Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Softfootball reports.

The Gunners drew 1-1 against Crystal Palace before winning via penalties in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup. Arsenal keep struggling to find goals as they beat Wolves 2-1 with two own goals and dispatched Everton 1-0 in their last premier league match with a goal from the penalty spot.

Arsenal took the lead during the encounter after a goalless first half as the Eagles defender, Maxence Lacroix scored an own goal to give Mikel Arteta’s men the lead but Marc Guehi netted a late equaliser to take the match into penalties.

Interestingly, Guehi is set to leave Crystal Palace on a free after he refused to accept a new contract proposal. Reports claim, Arsenal are in secret talks with the defender while Liverpool are planning to bid again for him after they failed to land him over the weekend.

In the penalty shootouts for Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa proved to be the saviour for Arsenal as he saved from Lacroix to hand Arsenal a 8-7 win and a semi-final showdown with another London team, Chelsea.

@BBkelly19 was happy with the win but happier with Kepa’s save.

Good to know we’re in the semi finals but this game tonight I must say we made it harder for ourselves. I know teams set-up differently for Arsenal but I felt we at some point waited for them to come at us… Every cup game is important and should be played with that intensity… Congratulations on moving to the next stage of the competition. Good save from Kepa…. #ARSCRY.

@LamarFawn felt Chelsea made a mistake letting Kepa join archrivals Arsenal in the summer.

When you feel useless always remember that Chelsea bought Kepa for £71.6 million, just for Arsenal to buy him from them for £5million.

@Rupeg11 expressed delight for the win but highlight an area the team needs to improve.

Well done to the lads. I loved the composure by the players on penalties but Going forward let’s kill the games early enough Sunderland, Villa, Wolves & Crystal Palace.

@BharatiyaGooner wasn’t happy the team is not scoring enough goals.

For god’s sake, get ur shit together. We beat Wolves 2-1, all 3 goals scored by Wolves. We beat Everton by penalty. We drew 1-1, Palace scored both goals. It finally came down to shootout & it took 8 kicks to finalise game. When would we stop winning by small margin. One day it won’t

@Oluseguniyodo accused Mikel Arteta of not being a fan of striker Viktor Gyokeres after he played Gabriel Jesus for 85 minutes against Crystal Place.

Gabriel Jesus that’s just returned from injury played 85 mins. Gyokeres has never played that much in a single game. Arteta has a way of showing favouritism. It’s bad. Congratulations to the team!

Arsenal will face Chelsea in the semi-final. First leg to be played on Wednesday, January 14 at Stamford Bridge while the second leg will be played at the Emirates on Tuesday, February 3.
