Arsenal Look to Extend European Winning Streak Against Brugge

3 Min Read

Arsenal are just one step away from booking their place in the last 16 of the 2025-26 Champions League as they head to the Jan Breydel Stadium to face Club Brugge.

The Gunners impressed in their last Champions League game with a 3-1 win over Bayern Munich at the Emirates, keeping their perfect record in Europe alive, as reported by Softfootball.

Club Brugge, meanwhile, are struggling. A 3-0 defeat to Sporting Lisbon and a recent managerial change have left them vulnerable, and Arsenal will be hoping to exploit that weakness.

Even though Arsenal conceded for the first time in the Champions League this season against Bayern, it didn’t really affect their standing. A win in Bruges could secure progression to the knockout stages for the second year in a row.

The Gunners come into this game a little bruised after a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League, which cut their lead at the top of the table to just two points above Manchester City.

Team news

Arsenal’s defence has been stretched all December. Cristhian Mosquera and Gabriel Magalhaes are out, William Saliba is doubtful, and Riccardo Calafiori limped off against Villa. If fit, he could start, though Myles Lewis-Skelly is expected in the lineup.

Club Brugge are also depleted. Their two first-choice goalkeepers, Simon Mignolet and Nordin Jackers, are unavailable. Zaid Romero, Lynnt Audoor, Ludovit Reis, and Romeo Vermant are also out. But youngsters Joel Ordonez and Aleksandar Stankovic could provide sparks.

Possible Lineups

Club Brugge: Van den Heuvel; Siquet, Mechele, Ordonez, Seys; Stankovic, Onyedika; Forbs, Vanaken, Tzolis; Tresoldi

Arsenal: Raya; White, Timber, Hincapie, Lewis-Skelly; Nwaneri, Norgaard, Merino; Madueke, Gyokeres, Martinelli

Softfootball’s Prediction

Club Brugge’s injury issues make Arsenal heavy favourites. Even if Arteta rotates a few players, their attacking depth is strong.

Prediction: Club Brugge 1-4 Arsenal
