Barcelona moved to top of LaLiga after they thrashed 10-man Athletic Bilbao 4-0 at the newly redeveloped Camp Nou, Softfootball reports.

The Catalan giants seem to have regained their devastating form of recent. Barcelona beat Celta Vigo 4-2 just before the last international break to move within three points of league leaders Real Madrid after they drew goalless against Rayo Vallecano.

So, the win over Bilbao gave Barcelona a different type of joy as they shared with their fans via their official X handle. They wrote:

It was definitely a spectacle at the Camp Nou as Barcelona entertained their fans at the reopening of the stadium. Recall, Softfootball reported when Lionel Messi secretly visited the stadium and wished he could comeback for a proper goodbye after leaving the club for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) due to the club’s financial troubles.

In the absence of Marcus Rashford due to injury, club’s topscorer Robert Lewandowski became the first player to score at the iconic renovated home just four minutes into the match.

The last time Barcelona played at that ground was in May 2023. Fermin Lopez made it 2-0 as the home side cruised to a comfortable first half lead in front of 45,157 fans inside the stadium.

Interestingly, large sections of the Nou Camp remained closed for the game but when it will be made accessible, it will be a capacity of about 105,000, undoubtedly one of the large in the world.

Bilbao’s Oihan Sancet saw a straight red after his yellow card was upgraded for a bad tackle on Lopez following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Ferran Torres took over the show in the second half with the help of Spanish superstar, Lamine Yamal, who created both assists as the former Manchester City forward got a second half brace as the match finished 4-0.

There was beautiful fireworks at the stadium as Barcelona shared via their official X handle. Watch Below.

Barcelona are now top of LaLiga with 31 points from 13 matches due to their superior goals difference but Real Madrid will replace them, if they beat Elche on Sunday.
