Kane Leads Bayern to Historic 4-1 Comeback Over Cologne in DFB Cup

Bayern Munich extended their perfect start to the season with a 4-1 victory over Cologne in the second round of the DFB Cup, setting a new European top-five league record with 14 wins from 14 matches across all competitions, Softfootball reports.

This winning steak comes after Bayern’s ruthless 4-0 victory over Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League group stage, highlighting the Bavarians’ remarkable consistency across competitions. They carried their winning momentum into the DFB Cup clash with Cologne and quickly turned the game around.

Cologne started the game strongly, creating several chances before opening the scoring in the 31st minute. Ragnar Ache rose to meet Isak Johannesson’s corner and headed the ball past Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

The Bundesliga champions responded quickly. Luis Diaz equalized in the 36th minute, finishing from close range after a rebound.

Two minutes after that, Harry Kane produced a stunning strike, turning a tight situation into a spectacular strike that put the Bayern ahead before halftime.

The second half resumed with the same intensity and Bayern dominated the game further. In the 64th minute, Harry Kane doubled his tally from Joshua Kimmich corner.

Right after that, Michael Olise tapped in a fourth goal in the 72nd minute following a switch counter attack assisted by Luis Diaz.

Cologne tried to penetrate Bayern’s defense, and late on substitute Linton Maina hit the post, but they could not find a way back.

The Bundesliga champions took to their official x handle to celebrate their 4-1 win.

Bayern have now surpassed AC Milan’s 1992/93 record of 13 consecutive wins at the start of a season across all competitions.

The Bavarians, who host Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, will then travel to face European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League next week.
