Arsenal must dominate Newcastle United to win – Arteta

Ahead of the match against Newcastle United on Sunday, Mikel Arteta has warned his Arsenal players that they need to dominate the game to win.

Softfootball can report that the Magpies have won their last three games against the Gunners at St James’ Park on Sunday and Eddie Howe’s men will be hoping to return to winning ways after drawing goalless against Bournemouth last weekend.

Speaking at the press conference shared on Arsenal’s official media, Arteta is optimistic for a positive result but wary of Newcastle. He said:

You have to dominate when you play against them, we have to be ready because they continue so rapidly, so quickly. It’s a really intense match, we will prepare for that.

At the end, we know I always praise the work that Eddie [Howe] and the coaching staff have done there. We know the test, we know that we’re going to have to be much more efficient than we’ve been lately when we played up there to win the game and we’re going to work on that in the next two days.

The Arsenal manager also hailed the atmosphere at St James’ Park created by the Toon Army and revealed his excitement. He said:

I think it’s one of the best football atmospheres in the country. As a player, as a fan, as a coach, you want to live in this atmosphere, they play every single ball with you, it’s electric.

The way they have managed to create such an atmosphere, especially at home as well as a very clear identity of playing football, they make it really difficult. There is so much support there and it’s one team, one city, I think that makes it different as well, and to play it’s such a challenge and opportunity as well so it’s a great game to play.

Arsenal drew 1-1 against Manchester City in their last premier league match and would hope a win at Newcastle help them maintain their push on the table as Arteta look to win the league this season with the Gunners.
