AS Monaco Sign Danish Teen Sensation Ekene Chukwuani from Brøndby IF

AS Monaco have secured the signature of teenage forward Ekene Chukwuani from Brøndby IF, a move confirmed after FIFA granted clearance for the transfer. The 16-year-old, who has already made a name for himself in Denmark’s youth scene, signed a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 side.

Softfootball understands that Chukwuani enjoyed a prolific season in the last campaign, scoring 28 goals in 25 games for Brøndby’s U17 team. The forward has also produced on the international scene as well, with the youngster representing Denmark at U-17 level. His numbers and physical exploits made him one of the most talked-about prospects in Scandinavia.

Reports suggest Monaco will pay in the region of €2 million, though some outlets put the figure closer to €1 million. Whatever the exact fee, it marks a historic moment for Brøndby, as this is the first time a player has been sold directly from the club’s Masterclass academy in such a deal. Monaco will be delighted with this season’s transfer dealings, especially with the deal that brought in superstars like Ansu Fati and Paul Pogba.
