Softfootball reports that Brazilian and former Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has stated that it was hard for him to leave Etihad and bid goodbye to teammates and staff he had built over six seasons.

Ederson, 32, completed a transfer from Manchester City to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe on deadline day but returned to the Etihad to say goodbye to teammates and staff. As earlier reported by Softfootball, the deal was worth €14m from Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Despite having just a year left in his contract at City, the 32-year-old left as one of the club’s most successful and beloved players, having won six Premier League titles in eight years, as well as the Champions League, FA Cups, and League Cups.

Speaking to Manchester City media, Ederson, who couldn’t control his emotions, said the decision to leave England was one of the hardest things he had ever done in his career.

Ederson cited:

It’s difficult to move after eight years, but I’m happy and my family are happy. It’s the best decision for us.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, who joined City in 2017 from Benfica, continued by saying that all his dreams while growing up as a footballer were achieved in City.

It’s difficult to say one feeling because I feel a lot. “I arrived so young with big dreams to wear the shirt, to work hard and win trophies. Our dreams came true.

He then concluded:

For me, it’s amazing, Six Premier League titles in eight seasons. After winning four in a row I said it felt normal, but it’s not normal. We made history, my team made history. The players, the staff, this club made history.

Ederson would go down as one of the best goalkeepers ever to grace the English Premier League in recent times. The Brazilian recorded six assists in 372 City appearances, surpassing former England international Paul Robinson, who had five assists during his time with Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley.
