Manchester City have wasted no time in replacing Éderson following his switch to Fenerbahçe. The Premier League giants , who had been in the market for a new first-choice goalkeeper, turned their attention to PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma weeks ago after alot speculations linking them with various names across Europe.

Softfootball understands that Donnarumma had been on City’s radar for some time and already agreed personal terms with the club after falling out of favour with PSG earlier in the transfer window, with Pep Guardiola keen to add a shot-stopper of his calibre and experience to the squad.

According to Transfer Journalist Fabrizio Romano, he confirmed the exclusive story via his X handle saying:

“EXCLUSIVE: Gigio Donnarumma to Manchester City, HERE WE GO!
Deal done for the Italian GK to join Man City project from Paris Saint-Germain. Medical this afternoon.
Long term deal agreed weeks ago and all done between the two clubs after Éderson signed for Fenerbahçe.”

The Italian goalkeeper, who has already won the Euros with Italy and built a strong reputation during his time at AC Milan and PSG, now takes on a new challenge in the Premier League.

City see Donnarumma as a favorable marketing opportunity and a perfect replacement to ederson who is leaving to join fernabache , will provide quality between posts for the next decade, while PSG were open to the deal as they couldn’t reach an agreement with the Italian and also due to restructuring of their squad ahead of a demanding season.

This signing not only strengthens Manchester City defensively but also sends a statement to the rest of the league and in europe about their intent to remain dominant both domestically and in Europe. Donnarumma’s arrival comes at a very important time, with the club preparing for return to its glory days after a disappointing season last year , and fans will be eager to see how quickly he adapts to life under Guardiola’s system.
