Xavi Simons is expected to feature for RB Leipzig in their Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich on Friday, and the 22-year-old Dutch attacker is poised to complete his transfer to Chelsea afterwards.
The Blues have been busy this summer, and have already made several signings in Jorrel Hato, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens. However, Chelsea aren’t done there, as they are looking to add another two attackers to their squad,

Softfootball understands that Chelsea are working on deals for both Simons and Alejandro Garnacho, but are yet to make an official offer for either player. The Blues are said to be in advanced negotiations for Simons, with RB Leipzig said to want a total package of £60m.
Chelsea reportedly want to agree a fee of around £50m for Simons, and as of yet there’s been no breakthrough between the clubs. Personal terms with the Premier League club have already been fully agreed, and Simons has made it clear that Chelsea is his preferred destination.
Although the likelihood of the transfer remains high, RB Leipzig are yet to receive an official bid from Chelsea. As a result, the Bundesliga side intend to continue using Xavi Simons in the meantime while awaiting a formal approach from the London club.
German football insider Florian Plettenberg reports via his X handle that barring any late surprises, Xavi Simons is expected to feature for RB Leipzig in their Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich on Friday. Following that fixture, his move to Chelsea is anticipated to be finalised. His tweet reads:
“Unless something unexpected happens, the current plan for #Xavi Simons is for him to start for RB Leipzig against FC Bayern in the Bundesliga opener on Friday.
After that, the move to Chelsea is set to be completed. The chances of the Chelsea transfer going through remain very high. Xavi only wants #CFC. Personal terms are 100% agreed. RB still waiting for an official offer.”
Xavi Simons netted 10 goals in the Bundesliga last season and provided seven assists in 25 games, but he only signed a contract until 2027 and Leipzig are looking to make a profit on any transfer.
