“I’m feeling better” – Davies says as he returns to Bayern training

Alphonso Davies returns to the pitch for the first time in five months when he joined Bayer Munich Pre-season training.

Softfootball understands that the Canadian Captain is yet to begin full training with the rest of the squad but it’s a delight for manager Vincent Kompany and teammates to have him back ahead of the new season.

According to football expert, Fabrizio Romano, the timing return of the world class left back gives the Bavarians a massive incentive as they try to defend their Bundesliga title and compete for UEFA Champions League glory next season.

Writing on his official X handle, he said:

“Huge boost for Bayern as Alphonso Davies has returned on the pitch for the first time after injury today.

“I’m feeling better! There’s still a little bit to go, but for me it’s soon, considering where I was before”, says Davies.”

Interestingly, Davies was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in January as his contract had six months left but Bayern managed to convince him to sign a contract extension at the start of February that is set to keep him in Munich until 2030.

Unfortunately, he picked up a back injury that ruled him out of the 2024/2025 season. In March, Davis led Canada to the Concacaf Nations League where they got to the third-place play-off against the United States but was substituted after only 12 minutes.

He returned to Germany and Bayern Munich discovered he had torn his cruciate ligament. The club slammed the Canadian federation for negligence.Later in May, Davies published a video revealing the psychological challenge the injury presented.

Davis missed the FIFA Club World Cup as Bayern Munich were known eliminated in the quarter-final by a 10-man Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The Bavarians also lost star man Jamal Musiala during the due to injury.

Bayern Munich will begin the new Bundesliga season with a home game against RB Leipzig on August 22.
