Ekitike was so chilled as he answered questions during his first interview with Liverpool media shared on the club’s official website.

The 23-year-old said:

“I feel very proud. Obviously it’s a big, big club. I’m just excited, I’m a bit like a kid. I’ve been dreaming to come and play in the Premier League. And to play for Liverpool is a big, big good feeling for me. I just can’t wait to start to play games and to win trophies.

“I think that was the right moment. I came to the Bundesliga hungry, I wanted to show that I’m a good player and I can make the difference on the pitch. I think I did well last season. Now, I feel ready to make a bigger step and to play on the highest level, to improve myself, to see what I can do. That’s why I think it’s the right timing for me and the perfect moment to come here.”

Ekitike was born to a Cameroonian father and a French mother on 20 June 2002 in Reims, Marne, France. He began his youth career at Cormontreuil FC, a small local football club in Cormontreuil, before joining the academy at Stade de Reims in 2013.

Ekitiké can play as a lone striker or alongside a partner. He has the versatility and adaptable skill-set to be used in various back-four and back-three formations. For a tall right-footed player, he is very mobile and not afraid to hold possession.

Ekitike was eligible to play for France because of his birth and through his mother and for Cameroon through his father. He is a youth international for France, having represented the France U20s.

Liverpool fans would be able to see Ekitike for the first time and he will be wearing the number 54 for the reminder of pre-season. A debut goal would surely boost his morale and help him settle quickly in the squad filled with superstars like Mohamed Salah and Alison.

Liverpool will begin their Premier League title defence against Bournemouth on August 15 at Anfield.
