Beşiktaş are rebuilding their squad for next season, buying and selling players and one of the casualties in terms of outgoings is former Arsenal winger, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Softfootball reports.

The 31-year-old also played many years for Liverpool before he left England for the Turkish Super Lig side Beşiktaş. According to Transfer News Live, the former England international has been sacked by the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer led team.

The injury situation followed him to Turkey and last season, a knee injury made him miss the final matches of the season. Chamberlain scored just a goal in 20 appearances in all competitions for Besiktas last season.

On 16 May 2012, Oxlade-Chamberlain was called up for the England side preparing for UEFA Euro 2012, that was held in Poland and Ukraine. He made his debut for the senior England team on 26 May 2012 during a 1–0 win against Norway in a warm-up match.

The former England youth international made his first senior start for England on 2 June, playing 66 minutes against Belgium at Wembley Stadium, another friendly game.

On 11 June, Chamberlain made his major international tournament debut when he started in England’s opening match of the Euro 2012 tournament against France.

Chamberlain’s international career was not without injuries also as he was left out of Gareth Southgate’s 23-man England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup due to injury on 16 May 2018.

Softfootball reported earlier that Beşiktaş are preparing for the new season with the recent signing of Tammy Abraham from AS Roma. Abraham is expected to play a key role under new Besiktas manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who values aggressive, forward-minded players a trait Abraham has consistently demonstrated throughout his career.

Chamberlain will wait until he recovers from injury before looking for a new season.
