Kompany provides update on Jamal Musialaafter horrific injury

Coach Vincent Kompany has provided an update on German midfielder, Jamal Musiala after he suffered a horrific injury during Bayern Munich’s 2-0 defeat against 9-man Paris St-Germain (PSG) on Saturday evening, Softfootball reports.

It was a game most people wanted to see especially with the Club World Cup semifinal spot at stake. So, there were no surprises when attendance at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium was recorded at 66,937.

After a hard fought first half that ended goalless. Desire Doue opened scoring with a left foot shot in the 78th minute and despite Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez sent off, PSG sealed their place in the last four when Ousmane Dembele scored in injury-time and made his celebration a tribute to Diogo Jota, who recently passed away after a car crash.

Softfootball had reported that the PSG win was overshadowed by a horrific ankle injury to German international Jamal Musiala after he collided with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma while chasing a loose ball from former Crystal Palace star, Michael Olise.

The incident happened just before the end of the first half and Musiala never came back to the pitch for the second half. Interestingly, it was his first start at the Club World Cup as he just recovered from injury before the tournament and Coach Vincent Kompany has been managing his minutes.

Speaking after the loss to PSG, Kompany provided a brief update on Musiala’s injury. These were his statements;

He had to go to hospital, and it didn’t look good. The overwhelming feeling is that I hope it’s not as bad as it looks, and that he will get through this one,

The former Manchester City defender told DAZN.

It’s the second setback in a very short time. He’s a player that loves football – it’s his life. It will hit hard, but he’s going to get through it and come back stronger. Hopefully, he’ll be there to lift trophies with Bayern next season.

Bayern Munich exit from the Club World Club means it is also the final appearance for Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane are they have officially left the club. Muller is a free agent while Sane has signed for Galatasaray in Turkey.
