Tyrell Malacia will return to Manchester United on July 1 after PSV Eindhoven confirmed they will not sign him permanently following his loan spell
The Netherlands international made 12 appearances for PSV in the second half of the 2024–25 season, helping them secure a first domestic title in his career.
Malacia’s Old Trafford journey began in 2022, when he moved from Feyenoord and featured 39 times in his debut season. However, a serious knee injury ruled him out entirely in 2023–24, and he struggled for game time in the first half of 2024–25, making only eight appearances before his loan.
Under loan terms, PSV had the option to buy but opted against it, announcing that both Malacia and Rick Karsdorp will leave on July 1. With Malacia under contract at United until June 2026, he will return for pre-season training on July 7, but his future remains uncertain given the competition at left wing-back.
Realistically, another loan move may be the most viable outcome for all parties. Should he prove his fitness elsewhere, he could either earn a permanent transfer next summer or command interest as a free agent thereafter.
