Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard is on the verge of joining Arsenal, with reports confirming that his medical has been authorised. The 31-year-old’s transfer marks another calculated step by Mikel Arteta as he strengthens his squad ahead of another Premier League title challenge.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have agreed to pay an initial fee of £10 million for Norgaard, with potential add-ons pushing the deal toward £15 million. The Danish international is expected to arrive as a backup to Martin Zubimendi, another target Arsenal are pursuing to bolster their midfield following the departures of Jorginho and Thomas Partey.
With this signing, Arteta’s midfield begins to take shape. Norgaard will provide defensive solidity and depth, while Mikel Merino has been linked as a possible deputy to Declan Rice.
