Manchester United’s pursuit of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo is heating up as the Red Devils continue their summer rebuild under new manager Ruben Amorim. Despite serious interest from Tottenham Hotspur, reports suggest Mbeumo has made his preference clear: he wants a move to Old Trafford.
United have already had two bids turned down, with the latest offer reportedly worth £62.5 million. While the Cameroonian is said to be intrigued by Tottenham’s project—especially under new boss Thomas Frank, who previously coached him at Brentford—he sees more potential in becoming a part of United’s evolving front line.

After acquiring Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Amorim is looking to reshape a Manchester United attack that struggled last season. The team managed only 44 goals, placing them among the lowest scorers in the Premier League. With creativity from Bruno Fernandes and the addition of Cunha, Mbeumo could thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced system.
However, financial constraints might limit United’s ability to sign both a striker and Mbeumo. Still, the winger’s versatility—especially his ability to operate without a traditional striker—makes him a valuable asset. United are also aiming to strengthen their midfield and goalkeeping positions, which could affect how much they can spend elsewhere.
Tottenham, meanwhile, offers Mbeumo immediate Champions League football and the chance to reunite with Frank, who helped unlock his potential at Brentford. Spurs, though, are also undergoing a rebuild after finishing 17th last season—a slump blamed largely on former manager Ange Postecoglou.
While both clubs are in transition, Mbeumo appears more drawn to United’s long-term project and the opportunity to help return the club to European competition.
Whether United can meet Brentford’s asking price—and balance that with other squad needs—remains to be seen. But the player’s preference could play a crucial role as negotiations continue.
