Arsenal’s interest in Brazilian winger Rodrygo continues to intensify as his position at Real Madrid appears increasingly unstable. Despite Xabi Alonso assuring the public that Rodrygo remains an important part of his plans, the player’s recent absence from key matches has reignited speculation surrounding a summer exit.

Rodrygo stayed on the bench throughout Real Madrid’s win over Pachuca in the Club World Cup, even though he had previously contributed an assist in their 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal. That match marked his return after a long spell out, having last played in April when he was subbed off during the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Since taking over as head coach from Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso has made it clear that he values Rodrygo, calling him a “special” player. However, when asked why the Brazilian was left out against Pachuca, Alonso simply stated it was a “technical decision” and hinted that Rodrygo may return for the final group fixture against RB Salzburg.

Reports out of Spain have long hinted that Rodrygo was keen on a fresh challenge, with the end of Madrid’s La Liga campaign marking a potential turning point. Although Alonso’s arrival initially seemed to patch things up, the winger’s benching has raised doubts again over his long-term future.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer him a new challenge in North London. Manager Mikel Arteta is targeting a versatile wide forward who can operate on both flanks and provide cover for Bukayo Saka. Rodrygo fits the profile, and his Premier League adaptability is seen as a major advantage.

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has openly voiced his admiration for Rodrygo, calling him a “phenomenon” and expressing hope that he joins the Gunners. Speaking on the Podpah Podcast, Gabriel made it clear he’d welcome his Brazilian teammate at the Emirates, even though he has no confirmation from the club.

The Gunners are expected to strengthen their attacking options this summer, and Rodrygo remains one of their top targets. While Alonso continues to publicly support the player, internal clarity on Rodrygo’s guaranteed role at Madrid has yet to emerge.

As Arsenal’s transfer plans unfold, the Brazilian winger’s future remains under scrutiny. Whether he stays in Spain or moves to England may depend on how prominently he features in Real Madrid’s remaining matches and the assurances he receives from his manager.
