Victor Osimhen is on course to leave Napoli this summer, but where he lands is still up for debate. While Napoli would prefer he heads to the Premier League and join Liverpool, the striker reportedly has his heart set on Juventus.
Napoli are exploring a potential swap involving Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez, whose time at Anfield has been mixed. Talks with Nunez’s camp are already underway, making a part-exchange deal a realistic possibility if Liverpool step up their pursuit of the Nigerian forward. The Reds, however, may need to sell before they buy, as they’re also looking to spend £40m on Milos Kerkez and reinforce their back line.
Despite turning down an enormous £30m-a-year deal from Al-Hilal, Osimhen remains focused on continuing his European journey. Galatasaray, where he previously impressed on loan with 45 goal contributions in 41 appearances, are also interested but are considered an unlikely destination.
Juventus, who must negotiate directly with Napoli due to a clause that only allows foreign clubs to trigger his €75m release, appear to have Osimhen’s attention. The club’s sporting project reportedly appeals to him more than Liverpool’s or Manchester United’s.
Man United have revived their interest, willing to meet the release clause and offer a £10.3m yearly wage. However, the lack of European football could hinder their chances, especially if Liverpool come calling. The competition for Osimhen’s signature is fierce, but his next destination may hinge more on ambition than financial reward.
Since joining in 2020, Osimhen has scored 76 goals and assisted 18 times in 133 matches for Napoli, helping them to the 2022–23 Serie A title. His departure now feels inevitable; the only question is whether it will be England or Italy where his future lies.
