Real Madrid 2025 summer transfers ins outs and rumours

Real Madrid have kicked off the 2025 summer transfer window with a flurry of activity, aiming to bounce back under new head coach Xabi Alonso. After a lacklustre 2024–25 season that saw Los Blancos fall short in La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, sweeping changes are already underway at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure officially ended as the Italian made his anticipated move to manage Brazil. While he did win the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup, the campaign was viewed as a failure after being outshone domestically by Barcelona and eliminated in Europe.

Xabi Alonso, who arrives following an impressive spell at Bayer Leverkusen, has already begun shaping his squad. Madrid’s incoming transfers total £96.8m, with three key arrivals: Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth (£50m), Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool (£8.3m), and highly rated Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono from River Plate (£38.5m).

So far, Real Madrid have not made any profit from player sales. Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez, and Jesus Vallejo have all departed as free agents, bringing the summer income to £0 and net spend to -£96.8m.

The club remains active in the market, with plans to bring in a new left-back, and possibly add depth in midfield and attack. Rumours around a potential exit for winger Rodrygo have also surfaced, although nothing is confirmed yet.

As Real Madrid prepares for the 2025–26 campaign, the window officially reopened on June 16 and will close on September 1. With expectations high, the coming weeks could see more movement both in and out of Madrid.
