Barcelona in talks to sign Roony Bardghji as winger hunt continues

Barcelona have reportedly stepped up their interest in Swedish wonderkid Roony Bardghji as part of their ongoing search to strengthen their attack. While Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams remains the Catalan club’s top priority, Bardghji has emerged as a separate target under consideration this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the 19-year-old Copenhagen winger is on Barcelona’s radar, with direct talks already held between the club and his representatives. While a formal bid has not been submitted yet, Barça are weighing whether to move now or wait until January when they could land Bardghji on a free transfer, as his current contract expires in December.

The Blaugrana may only need to offer between €2m and €3m to secure the services of the talented teenager before the window closes. This potential deal could provide valuable depth without straining the club’s finances, as Barcelona continue to manage spending carefully.

Despite suffering a serious knee injury in May 2024 that temporarily cooled interest from other clubs, Bardghji returned to action in March and is back on the radar of several European sides. Porto have already submitted a proposal, while Marseille have also shown interest, though reports suggest the French side might not pursue a deal.

Barcelona, however, appear to hold a decisive edge in the race for Bardghji. The Sweden U21 international is known to be a lifelong Barcelona fan and is said to be enthusiastic about the idea of joining the Spanish champions.

Even if the pursuit of Nico Williams succeeds, the club views Bardghji as an additional piece of their attacking rebuild, not just an alternative. With sporting director Deco confirming the club’s intention to bolster the flanks, and manager Hansi Flick looking to add youthful talent with potential, a move for Bardghji could be wrapped up swiftly if Barça choose to act now.
