Nathan Tella has firmly quashed rumours linking him with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen, stating he’s happy in Germany and fully focused on contributing more to the team. The 25-year-old Nigerian winger joined the Bundesliga champions from Southampton in a €23.3m move and played a role in their historic treble-winning season.
Though not a regular starter, Tella has remained optimistic and respectful of his role within the squad. His humility and commitment were clear as he spoke about his experience at the BayArena. “I want to stay there. This is the club they signed me for, and it’s an honour for them to sign me,” he said in an interview with Flashcore.
He reflected on the moment he first heard of Leverkusen’s interest while still playing in the Championship, describing it as “incredible.” He believes there’s still more to offer and is motivated by the chance to grow with the club. “I still feel like I’ve got more to give. So, I’m really looking forward to my future there.”

Tella was part of a remarkable campaign in which Leverkusen lifted the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and Super Cup, going unbeaten domestically. Despite limited game time, he views his contribution with pride. “Even if I played a small part in it, I can still say I’m an invincible.”
With Xabi Alonso’s departure to Real Madrid and Erik Ten Hag stepping in as Leverkusen’s new manager, Tella sees it as a fresh opportunity. “I’m part of a great team, and I’m able to play a part in it, whether it’s the biggest or the most mediocre part,” he said, stressing his team-first mindset.
As the German champions prepare for a new chapter under Ten Hag, Tella’s loyalty and positive attitude could see him play an even bigger role in what promises to be another exciting season.
